Canadian Ink Studios was operating in an increasingly competitive tattoo market as organic social became a less dependable source of visibility and demand. At the same time, a growing mix of services, specialty offers and retail products was creating new opportunities, along with considerably more complexity.
The digital experience hadnโt kept pace. The website was dated and basic, with little opportunity to shop online or understand the full range of what the studio offered. Booking a tattoo was a long and inconvenient process, while antiquated workflows created friction for customers, staff and parts of the in-studio experience.
The business needed a digital model that would give it a competitive advantage, provide customers with a better way to purchase, and make it easier to introduce new offers as the business evolved.

What started as a website rebuild became a much broader transformation across ecommerce, booking, customer experience and studio operations. The old booking system was replaced with Mangomint, while the website was rebuilt to support everything from custom tattoos and consultations to flash, piercings, jewelry, aftercare, events and specialty offers.
Expanding the business online meant accounting for fundamentally different buying decisions. A first tattoo could be a highly considered purchase, supported by detailed service information, artist portfolios, specialties, educational resources and several ways to consult before committing. Flash required a more direct path, connecting a specific design to the artist who created it and their availability. Mystery Tattoos sat at the other end of the spectrum, where spontaneity was part of the appeal and the experience needed to carry that decision through deposit and booking without unnecessary friction.
Behind the customer experience, booking logic, deposits, payments, forms and communication were reworked alongside the move to Mangomint. This new direction brought more of the day-to-day studio operation into the same ecosystem, including scheduling, the virtual waiting room, tips and payroll, while the website introduced new online revenue opportunities through tattoos, retail, piercing, aftercare and an artist-only supply shop.
Services, offers, educational content, staff profiles and portfolios could be managed internally, with room to introduce future categories without rebuilding the site around them. Staff training, documentation and a detailed handoff gave the team the ability to manage those changes themselves rather than relying on ongoing developer support.
